Navigating ADHD as an Introvert: A Digital Guidebook

For a lot of us, ADHD goes hunting for stimulation while being an introvert means too much of it is overwhelming. Living with both is like pressing the gas and the brake at the same time. This 83-page digital guidebook explains why that happens, why it goes unnoticed for decades in quiet people, and how to manage your social energy on purpose. Includes a printable companion kit of worksheets.

Why do I want to go out, and then immediately want to leave?

If you have ADHD and you are also an introvert, those two things want opposite things from you, all day, every day. This is the guidebook about what that actually is and how to work with it.

Written by Ky, who makes ADHD and mental health content for a community of close to three million people, and who was diagnosed with ADHD at 35.

A quick introduction, in about two minutes.

Two sets of instructions that contradict each other

For a lot of us, ADHD goes looking for stimulation. Noise, novelty, plans, something happening. It is genuinely uncomfortable when nothing is going on.

Being an introvert means that when the stimulation actually arrives, it drains you fast. You are ninety minutes into the thing you were excited about and you need to get out of there.

So you spend your life chasing the exact thing that wipes you out. It is like pressing the gas and the brake at the same time, and it is exhausting in a way that is very hard to explain to anybody who does not live in it.

Here is what usually happens next. General ADHD advice tells you to get out more, take on more, put yourself out there. General introvert advice tells you to protect your quiet and stay home. Neither one accounts for the other half of you. So you try both, neither works properly, and you conclude the problem is you.

It is not a discipline problem, and you did not invent it to get out of things. It is two real things happening in one body.

What actually changes when you read this

You stop guessing about your own reactions. When you know why the wanting and the leaving are both real, you stop treating one of them as a character flaw.

You spend social energy on purpose. Rather than saying yes to everything and then cancelling, or saying no to everything and feeling isolated, you get to decide in advance where the energy goes.

You find out what the masking has been costing. Most of us have been performing a more outgoing version of ourselves for years without adding up the bill. This adds it up.

You stop apologising for needing to recharge. Needing to leave early is information about how you are built, not a rudeness problem to be corrected.

You get language for it. There is a page in here you can hand to a partner, a friend, or a manager, so you do not have to invent the explanation from scratch every time.

What is inside

Chapter One: Understanding the ADHD Introvert

What ADHD looks like in a quiet person, and why that version gets overlooked for decades. Grieving the years before you knew. What changes when you find out later in life. Plus a page written directly to the men reading.

Chapter Two: Your Strengths, Honestly

What this wiring is genuinely good at, without pretending ADHD is a gift.

Chapter Three: Social Energy on Hard Mode

What masking actually costs you, and how to plan social energy instead of running out by accident.

Chapter Four: Living Authentically and Functionally

Holding both at once, which is harder than either on its own. Includes a section for the people who love you.

Conclusion: Just the Beginning

Where to go next, plus support lines if today is a hard one.

What lands on your phone

The guidebook. 83 pages, four chapters, laid out for reading on a phone in the gaps of a real day. It arrives as a PDF the moment you buy it, so it works on a phone, a tablet, or a laptop, and it is yours to keep.

A printable companion kit. Three worksheets:

  • A one-page explainer of the stimulation-and-overwhelm contradiction, written so you can hand it to somebody else.

  • A plan-it-before-you-go sheet for social events, so they cost you less.

  • A seven-day tracker for working out what actually drains you and what refills you.

Real sources. 35 citation markers pointing to 16 sources, each one rated so you can see how strong the evidence behind it is. Ky is not a doctor, and this book does not guess in front of you.

Support lines. Crisis numbers for the US, the UK and Ireland, and an international directory, on their own page so they are easy to find.

Who wrote this

I'm Ky. I make content about ADHD, introversion and mental health for a community of close to three million people, and I do it because I spent most of my life sure that I was the problem.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 35. That is when it happened for me, not a benchmark for anybody else. I host The Vibe With Ky Podcast, now in its seventh season. I was a keynote speaker at NeuroDiversion 2026. I was selected as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans by JCI USA in 2023. And I was a special guest of President Joe Biden at the White House Creator Economy Summit.

I am not a doctor or a therapist, and nothing I make replaces care from somebody qualified who knows your history. I am your hype man, not your doctor.

Is this a physical book?

No. Everything in the store is digital. It arrives on your device the moment you buy it, not in a mailbox.

What format is it?

A PDF, sized for phone reading. It opens on a phone, tablet or laptop, and it is yours permanently. There is also an audiobook edition of this title sold separately, if listening works better for you than reading.

Do I need a diagnosis to get something out of this?

No. Plenty of people read it while still working out whether ADHD is the right explanation. It is not a diagnostic tool and it does not pretend to be one.

How do I get to what I bought?

Sign in at store.thevibewithky.com and it is all there. That is the single most common snag people hit, so it is worth bookmarking.

Does the discount code work on everything?

Yes. VIBE25 takes 25 percent off anything in the store.

What if I buy something else later?

After any purchase, the code VIBE40 takes 40 percent off your next one. The two codes do not stack, so use whichever is better, and after a first purchase that is always VIBE40.

What if money is tight right now?

The podcast and the blog are free, permanently, and they always will be. You are not any less a Viber for reading the free stuff.

You have been translating yourself for other people long enough

83 pages, four chapters, and a printable companion kit. It arrives the second you buy it.

It is twenty dollars, and because you are here, the code VIBE25 takes 25 percent off. That brings it to fifteen.

It will not fix your life, and I would be lying if I said it would. But it might explain the thing nobody has managed to explain to you yet.

Prefer to listen?

There is an audiobook edition of this one too.
